LOOPSHORE OY

Data terms of use

What data does the Loop One device collect?

The Loop One device measures the condition data shown in the user interface.
– temperature
– relative humidity
– carbon dioxide
– volatile organic compounds
– fine particles
– noise (sound level)
– light
– air pressure
– movement of the device

The device does not collect:
– audio samples
– GPS data
– data on nearby Bluetooth or Wi-Fi devices
– or any other identifying information that could link the device directly to the user or to the space where the device is located at any given time.

In the password-protected cloud service, the customer can follow the analysed data of their own sites. The cloud service shows information about the measured site, such as the name and/or address of the building, but the service can also be used without this identifying information. Identifying information is added to the service based on information received from the customer.

Where is the data stored?

The Loopshore cloud service collects condition data from the sensors, which is stored in the database of the Loopshore cloud service. The cloud server is located in the EU.

How long is the data kept?

As a rule, data is not removed from the database but is kept there permanently. Data is deleted only at the customer’s separate request. The customer has access to their own password-protected data for as long as they use the service. No one other than the customer and persons designated by Loopshore has access to the data of the user account in question.

How can I delete my data history?

The customer can at any time ask Loopshore Oy to delete data from the database for a chosen period, e.g. the entire rental period. The customer will receive a separate written confirmation of this.

What is the data used for?

The collected data is visualised in the customer’s user interface as graphs for each quantity and, based on analysis, illustrated with traffic light colours. The customer can use the information produced by the measurement data to manage the indoor air and energy consumption of the building. The service can be used to examine trends in the measured quantities.

Loopshore uses the data to study phenomena related to air quality and conditions, and for service development and statistics. Sites or users cannot be identified from the data used for studying phenomena, service development and statistics. For example, when research statistics are compiled on schools, the statistics of an individual school cannot afterwards be identified from the data. The statistics may, for example, examine the typical CO2 concentration of a classroom during the school day, CO2 peaks, their timing, etc. However, it cannot be deduced from the data which school has the highest CO2 concentrations.

When ordered by the customer, we carry out studies of the customer’s own sites, in which identifying information and results are shown in detail in a report delivered to the customer. The report is delivered in the way the customer wishes.

How is the data protected?

The protection of IoT data involves several stages, in all of which the data and/or the system is protected, for example:

  1. the device measuring the space

  2. the IoT network over which the data travels

  3. the communication between the device and the server

  4. the server that processes the data

  5. data backups

  6. the information of the system administrator and users

Loopshore Oy is a security-audited company, and when necessary we can explain in more detail the technologies and processes we use to protect data. Disclosing detailed information publicly could compromise security, which is why it is not listed here.

Who has access to the data collected from the customer?

The customer has access to their own password-protected data. No one other than the customer and persons designated by Loopshore has access to the data of the user account in question. Data specific to a user account may be shared with third parties with the customer’s permission only in projects whose success requires sharing the data. One example is the Loopshore Opti energy saving project. Our privacy notice: privacy notice

Who has rights to the data collected from the customer?

The customer has the right to their own data for as long as the agreement is in force. The data can be saved as a CSV file for later use. As a rule, third parties do not have access to the data. In projects involving a third party, the use of the data is always agreed together with the customer. Loopshore has the right to use the data for anonymous statistics and service development.

May the data be shared further or used in business?

The customer may use the data produced by the service in any way they wish for as long as the customer has access to the data (a valid rental agreement for the device and/or service). Data saved separately as a CSV file remains available to the customer. The Loop One service has a REST API through which the customer can use the data produced by the sensor in any way they wish: API description

In the EU, the maker of a database obtains an exclusive right to it; however, Loopshore grants its customers permanent, unrestricted rights to use and modify the data relating to the customer.

Mobile app

The Loopshore mobile app is intended for viewing measurement data from the Loop One device. The app is available for Android and iOS devices.

Information collected

The app collects the following information:

  • Login details (username and password), which are sent to the Loopshore server to identify the user. The password is not stored on the device.

  • An authentication token (refresh token) is stored in the device’s secure key storage (Android Keystore / iOS Keychain) for automatic login.

  • User settings (units, time range and other user interface settings) are stored in the device’s local storage.

  • The app may collect anonymised analytics and crash data to improve the quality and reliability of the app. This information is not linked to the user’s personal data.

Use of the camera

The app may use the device’s camera to read QR codes. The camera is used only to recognise the QR codes of measuring devices in the app, and no images or video are stored or transmitted.

Information the app does not collect

The app does not collect location data, contacts, device identifiers or any other personal data. The app contains no advertisements and no third-party tracking libraries.

Information shown in the app

The measurement data shown in the app is the same information that is covered in the other sections of this privacy notice.
